Ok, this is a bit ’linkedin thinkpiece’ - cringe alert!
The corporate world can be very toxic, so we’re not talking about emulating that.
what is leading
- leading is not bossing or controlling!
- its literally leading the way, where ’the way’ might be helping others lead too
- and when I say might, I mean absolutely do that
- some people are shy, that’s okay
- some people want to jump into the limelight too, that’s also okay
- leading is putting your neck on the line
- yes, it can mean having a vision
- but take people with you - don’t harangue them into the direction you want
- for starters you will miss out on many great ideas that you hadn’t thought of
- it’s okay to be carefully motivated by ego (we’ve covered that before)
- you can take pride in it
- it can be hard work
- but the results are worth it
- you don’t need to take credit, you’re just another member of the team
- does this post contain more bullet points than LLM slop? Yes lol
leading is about helping create an envionment that others can flourish in if that is something you want to do
Following is something completely different. Don’t follow? I mean, you don’t need to follow anyone, but you can stick to the background as much as you want before you’re ready to shine.
