Some people have more of a competitive spirit, others have more of a collaborative spirit?
But that’s okay, right?
If someone does something in response to someone else doing something, I mean, at least they’re doing something?
todepond wrote a blog post about playing tennis which was really interesting. It mentions about how to win at tennis. And that’s great cos two people have had some great exercise and fun.
While, in a nudel jam, no one (that I’ve seen) competes to see who can do the best code. Although they sometimes do speedruns, which is fun too.
What we’re saying here is that it doesn’t matter what has motivated you as long as the outcome has awesome energy?
One thing we’ve noticed about the London <something> scene is that people help each other do events, there’s no competitiveness. Just loveliness <3
But if someone was trying to make their event ‘better’ then it would be better (for some definition of better, we’re not talking standards or quality, right?) So its kinda all cool.
Someone mentioned about beat battle type events, which are really cool. Although if the whole event is about competition it tends to attract maninly M.E.N.?
Is this about balance and options and connections?
As live? coding? gets - a wider audience - more different people - we can welcome them all in while being conscious that there’s no [paradox of intolerance]1
We’re hearing more and more ideas and a lot of them will happen, are happening, and we’ve noticed that by understanding and listening and supporting and forking and combining - that we can really help that thrive?
lurkers I know you’re there and you only reach out when this blog has annoying ’easter eggs’ but seriously - within reason - within tolerance - I will add your responses here or I wanna just listen. Cos lets face it - this isn’t about me - its about us
or am i competing 🤔
bonus content:
while searching for the link url in the text above I came across this post which I love, seems like a lifetime ago, but it’s been less than a year?

can’t find the blog post that talks about this, basically there is no need to tolerate intolerance ↩︎
